The Janet Boyd Cup recipient: V. A. Nguyen

The Janet Boyd Cup has been awarded annually since 2018 for character and diligence in English as a Second Language. The 2021 recipient is V. A. Nguyen.

Nguyen joined Auckland Grammar School in 2019 mid way through his Form 5 year.  He showed diligence, determination and character to catch up on work missed and secured sound marks that placed him in 6C in 2020.  His second in class promoted him into 7B in 2021.

Alongside his committed approach to his studies, Nguyen has embraced the extracurricular life of the School, including the International Student buddy programme, back stage for this year’s production of Monty Python’s Spamalot, performing in the Korean Cultural night, involvement on a Headmaster’s Committee and playing Badminton.

Nguyen has demonstrated a sound work ethic, and a humble, yet enthusiastic approach, making him an ideal recipient for an award recognising character and diligence.
