Inaugural Cultural Fusion Event
On Wednesday 30 March, the Headmaster’s Heritage Committee hosted its inaugural Cultural Fusion event. The first of its kind, the event involved several different cultural groups, and was to give staff and students a taste of events to be hosted by the Committee throughout the year. It served a teaser for the Headmaster’s Cultural Committee’s Cultural Night that will take place later on this year.
The Kapa Haka group kicked off the event, with the School Haka. Led by Prefect J. T. Murray, the students performed with passion, energy and enthusiasm. This was followed by the School’s Korean Modern Dance group. They performed an excellent KPOP dance with complicated moves, with fine precision and expertise.
Our third act were two musical items by the Bag Pipes performed by Form 6 student W. A. Wedde and Form 7 student A. M. C. Taylor. The majestic bag pipes produced a distinctive, pleasant, and melodic sound which resounded in the Heritage room from these skilled musicians.
The final act of the Cultural Fusion event was a solo Piano recital and song from Form 6 student J. B. Brown. Performing a song called Perseverance, Brown played with confidence and passion and enjoyed sharing his talent with the audience.
The committee wishes to thank staff and students for supporting this cultural event and they look forward to showcasing the talents of other groups throughout the year.
