Champion of Champions Tennis Final

Following earlier success, Form 3 student L. M. Bland earned a place in the final of the junior singles Champion of Champions Tennis tournament in Auckland.

The final was against the number one seed from Westlake Boys High School.

After a slow start, Bland fought his way back in the first set, losing 6-3. In the second set, the quality of tennis improved and Bland found himself 4-2 down, before playing some of his best tennis of the tournament. This included breaking serve and winning his service game to love before leading 5-4 and going on to win the second set 6-4.

Towards the end of the match, both students had won a set each, and Bland had the momentum. However, sadly his opponent had to retire due to injury and therefore he claimed the winner’s medal, and the junior singles Champion of Champions title for 2022.
