Auckland Secondary Schools Fleet Racing Regatta

The 71st annual Auckland Secondary Schools Fleet Racing Regatta was held at Wakatere Boating Club on Friday 16 September. With senior students completing their Term 3 examinations, the School’s Yachting team consisted of Form 3 students, competing against other Auckland schools.

The team performed superbly with three students receiving podium finishes:

• N. S. Wong was first in the Optimist class
• T. G. E. Pilkington was second in the Starling class
• O. J. Stone was third in the P-class

The Team Cup went to overall winners Takapuna Grammar School, but our juniors fought hard during each race with a tough 17 knot southerly wind to be placed 1st runner up. Many thanks to Master in Charge Miss Lauren Sweeney for her guidance and support of the team.
